ProCurve launches new Switch 2610 Series

The ProCurve Switch 2610 Series is the next generation of enterprise edge switches, improving features to enhance network edge connectivity and convergence for medium and large enterprises. With proven standards-based technology, the 2610 Series enables secure, reliable 10/100 connectivity for converged network applications.

The five new switches in the 2610 Series, all with a shallow form factor, include one fanless switch for open office deployments and one hybrid switch for environments that do not require PoE on every port.

The 2610 Series makes it easier for customers to manage and support applications at the network’s edge – such as VoIP, Unified Communications, wireless access points and security camera deployments.

Convergence

• PoE functionality to enable wired and wireless deployments of unified communications, voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video streaming.
  
  
• That includes two with full PoE, two without, and a hybrid for PoE only when you need it
  
  
• 2610 switches with PoE are IEEE 802.3af compliant, plus they offer support for pre-standard legacy PoE equipment
  
  
• Data-driven IGMP, which automatically prevents flooding of IP multicast traffic

Security

• Integration with ProCurve Identity Driven Manager (IDM) with support for ProCurve Network Immunity Manager (NIM) via sFlow
  
  
• sFlow traffic sampling technology: Improves traffic management and network monitoring to detect and prevent threats when used with ProCurve Network Immunity Manager
  
  
• Access Control Lists (ACLs), which give network administrators extremely fine control over users’ and processes; use of resources such as files and folders, for both inbound and outbound traffic; 254 ACL entries are available
  
  
• Multi-user 802.1x
  
  
• Multi-role authentication (802.1x, Web auth, MAC auth)
  
  
• Access security features (same feature set as for the ProCurve Switch 2900 and 4200 Series)
